(Introduction to Metalsmithing)



Learn to make your own sterling silver chain under the guidance of

a practiced artisan. Two different ‘recipes’ for chain design will be taught -  the classic double spiral (no soldering required), and a soldered series of linked shapes.


Basic soldering and fusing practices are introduced with an emphasis on safety and ease.


In three sessions, you’ll have made your own handmade sterling silver chain and incorporated it into your choice of designs: earrings, bracelet and/or necklace.


A total of 6 hours of personal instruction at Susan’s studio in Victoria BC Canada. Includes use of tools, and fine silver PMC3.

PMC Beadmaker I

(Introduction to Precious Metal Clay)


Learn fundamentals of working with precious metal clay through making your own beads with Susan Ellenton, one of Canada’s leading PMC artisans.


By the end of three sessions, you’ll have a custom collection of beautiful sintered silver beads, pins, earrings or pendants.

In addition to her skills in silversmithing and sintering, Susan is a dedicated teacher. She offers one-to-one coaching in sintering with PMC and basic silversmithing. Introductory lesson packages are also available - see below. Beginners are welcome.


Susan received her  PMC certification in 2008 through Rio Grande

at the Revere Academy in San Francisco under Chris Darway. 

Susan initially trained as a silversmith’s assistant in New Zealand in the mid-70’s.
